I grew up in the south-west suburbs of London, attended a Jesuit grammar school and studied at Trinity College, Oxford (BA Hons English) and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (MA Creative Writing). I've worked in education (tertiary and secondary), freelance writing and broadcasting as well as second-hand bookselling in Hay-on-Wye. In addition to writing, I've been involved in music, as lyricist/vocalist/saxophonist for various bands notably the Riff Power Band 1976-78. From 1995 to 2011 I was Lecturer in Media and Performing Arts at the Royal National College for the Blind, Hereford. After moving to the Hastings area in 2012 I was an Academic Support Worker at the local university campus. I now live in Hertfordshire and concentrate on writing and adult education.
